When I travel to a less popular destination, I often feel this unique and oddly amazing sensation. It’s kind of like excitement, but not exactly. It’s that feeling you get when you think you might discover something beautiful and hidden, something most people don’t know about. Curious what it’s like? Check out Würzburg.
Würzburg, nicknamed the “City of 100 Churches,” is the heart of the Franconian Wine Region in Southern Germany. It might not be on your radar, but it’s a must-visit for its gorgeous architecture, incredible art, and one-of-a-kind wine.
One standout attraction in Wurzburg is the Würzburg Residence Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It has the largest fresco in the world! Würzburg is also home to hidden gems like the Käppele Sanctuary, an equally breathtaking architectural masterpiece. To me, just thinking about these sights will have you counting down the days to experience them for yourself.
Not a wine person? Neither am I, but Würzburg’s centuries-old winemaking tradition makes its wine-tasting experience truly special. Ever tried something called “dry white wine”?
Did Würzburg piqued your interest? Well, what I just mentioned is just a taste of what awaits. So, let’s dive into why this city should be on your travel list.
